Dispute after 65 days filed against me

My item sold on eBay on Janurary 2nd. Then about a month later the buyer contacted me telling me they're having a problem with the game gear, how shuts off midway through a game. It told them the batteries are probably dying and need to be replaced. He then tells me he's using a charger. I never provided a charger and there for can't say what to do about that other then to switch back to just using batteries as that is what I had used and it was fine. The game gears were sold without chargers. They're battery devices. He then said okay and I never heard from him again. Then today March 16th I received an email from PayPal saying this guy filed a claim again me. It's been like 70 days since the transaction and he claims the game gear is defective. I have disputed the claim, I also never offered returns. Now im just waiting for PayPal to review it. And hoping I can get some sleep and not have to think about this. It may only be $45 dollars, but for me that's a lot of money that I can't afford to lose.

If paypal find in favour of the buyer then normally the buyer will have to return the item back to you trackable before you have to refund.

 

A buyer has up to 180 days to file a dispute.

 

You can say no refunds but that normally is for buyer remorse, if an item is not as described in any way ie breaks then the buyer can still file with paypal and they decide the outcome.

Do you I to give a refund even if nothing is wrong with the gaming device? It worked just fine the way it's supposed to when I sent it to the buyer. I feel he's upset that he has to use it on battery power and now wants his money back months after buying it. What happens if he did something to the device?

Sorry that is for paypal to say when they review the claim.

 

If they decide in favour of the buyer then yes you will have to refund but he normally has to send it back to you first.

I just don't think this is right. How can they give 180 days return policy? That's be like me buying a computer off of eBay use it for two month and decide I no longer want it. That is just wrong. Thank you for the information hopefully PayPal will rule in my favor.

I think they did it to reduce direct chargebacks.

 

If a buyer funds their paypal payment via a credit card then they have up to 180 days to file a claim direct via their c.c. issuer.

 

So to reduce that paypal gives the buyer 180 days so the dispute is decided via paypal and not a card company.

I just found out they ruled against me. I think I'm done with PayPal. This is just wrong.

In the event of an item received but not as described dispute then its often one persons word against another.

 

Paypal can't see what you sent or what the buyer says they received.

 

So to be fair to both parties they normally find in favour of the buyer BUT the buyer has to return the item back to the seller trackable at their own expense before you have to refund them.

That's what PayPal told me. I'm just concerned that when and if I get it back that it won't be as it was when I sold it.
