Being forced to commit fraud to get my money back

Long story short - seller sold me junk camshafts. They showed up not only "not as described" but damaged as well. The seller filed a USPS claim and USPS sent me a letter stating I need to hold on to & possibly turn in the damaged items and the original packing. PayPal is forcing me to return ship the parts back to the customer while USPS tells me not to because they paid the seller the full insured amount (same Amt I paid). If I return the items I am commiting federal mail/insurance fraud. The seller has blocked my messages & PayPal manager says I have to return items to get my money back - which forces me to commit fraud I am very displeased & contemplating closing my account

Online purchases do have risks for both buyers and seller.  There is no way to avoid all risks, but the buyer's first line of defense is good judgement when selecting an online vendor.

In this case, I think the best option is to return, with documented tracking, so that PayPal can force the refund, but not for your return shipping.  If USPS asks for the item, just indicate that it was returned.  USPS may then recall the refund given to the seller for insurance.  The seller should have refunded all costs to you immediately since it was shipping damage--and without your returnining anything.

It seems obvious you selected a disreputable vendor; PayPal can't protect against that.
