Same thing here...I took the case off of my DROID, it is seated perfectly. It even says it IS connected and recognizes it. But, when I swipe the card, nothing happens. I can take a photo of the card and it works that way, but its just another step. HELP!!

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 and it won't work with it. I wanted to ask you how to take a picture of the card for payment?

I have a Galaxy A3 phone and I am getting a message that card reader is disconnected.  I have synced my phone and the blue tooth light is on the paypal reader.

I've found the new bluetooth chip card reader will disconnect when the reader goes into standby mode.  It seems to automatically reconnect when tapping on a key of the reader and also checking that the Android app (smartphone) is activie.

You could try turning off the reader and the Galaxy and then turn on the reader and the Galaxy in that sequence to see if it connects.

I couldn't get Paypal Here reader or Square Reader to work on my Galaxy S5. Finally figured out you have to push either one of the readers in hard until it clicks all the way down flush with the top of the phone jack. Otherwise, it pops up a little bit and says disconnected. When you get the Headset icon at the top of the screen you will know it is in all the way.

Look at the pin on your reader. Are the stripes on it Black or White?  I had the same issues as you Droid users with my LG Motion and I had Black stripes. I emailed and asked for White stripe reader for testing and it works perfectly.  Its worth a try!!   This is for Android users, I have no clue about the Iphones!!

Just started having same trouble on I phone 4 doesn't even show that I swiped a card,it says device detected.Since it worked fine before bought a new card reader and same thing so tried 3 other card readers at store and none worked with any card.I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and powered phone off and on still doesn't work. So switched to square. Would rather use PayPal but out of options any ideas would be appreciated...
