While the general release of this product has not yet begun, this thread is here for questions about the product. interesting situation here......I have a friend that has a Samsung Admire (SCH-R720).  He came across the apk from somewhere (he wont tell me). He loaded it on his phone and received his scanner in the mail and has made multiple charges( both swiped and keyed in)  with it without any problems. So my question is simply put....Is this compatitable with the Admire or not??  If so then why cant I get it thru Google Store...if not.then how is he using it??   Thanks!!

Deezwho - That issue should be fixed. Are you still seeing it?

 

Dumaine - Thank you for letting us know about that, we'll definitely look into it. Android phones not listed on the list of compatible phones should not be used with PayPal Here.

Thanks for the response Olivia.  I guess that raises another topic then.  Since its not on the list does that mean its "Incompatible" or more important, "Untested"?  He has proven that it works (charges made, and monies received into his Paypal account).

Hi again, Dumaine. It's incompatible. It is not meant to be working with any Android devices listed there. We are working to expand availability to more devices.

Olivia I had the same issue as DeezWho (fails after "synchronizing preferences" msg). I tried it again after your reply that it was fixed and I am still having that issue.

Hi Olivia, I've uninstalled, rebooted and re-installed and still have the same issue. The "Synchronizing Preferences" pop disapears and i'm still at the login screen.

I'm having the exact same problem! I got the invite, added the app, and when I try to log in with either email address and pass or phone number and pin, says it's synchronizing etc but bam, right back to the log in screen. This is ridiculous! I even called paypal to ask for an explanation, they simply told me to wait a few days for all my info to be verified but I don't see what the problem is, I've had my business paypal acct verified for awhile now. I'm using the correct device, iPhone 3GS but yet nothing. Unless this gets resolved and I quit wasting my time with this thing, I will go with intuit.

You said you had to enter them twice?  Was there any error message when you tried to save?  To clarify, they appeared under Manage items after they were saved then just disappeared the next day?  Sorry, I just need to make sure I know exactly what happened for our engineers.

HP eprint works in the iOS version of the app.  The settings ask for the HP eprint email address. (e.g. email@hpeprint.com).  I know for android the receipt printing is different.  The printer needs to be on the same network as the phone and be configured for network based printing.  The configuration settings can vary between printers so I'm not sure exactly what will need to be checked on your printer.  I know many printers have firewall settings and other security settings.  Is the printer recognized when printing through other apps on the phone?

Hi billmac44, It sounds like the app is freezing on the identity verification part. I recommend shaking the phone on the app login screen to contact PayPal Here support (1-877-569-1136). We can then complete the identity verification part over the phone and have you try the application again. Sorry about the trouble. We'll get this figured out. 🙂

Thanks for the reply. Any reason why the Android version couldn't just request the address like the iOS version??

 

Anyway, yes I can print with other apps to the printer. One of the phones we are using is an off service Droid X, so it only gets internet through our wifi, which is how our HP printer is connected. I checked and the printer does have a firewall but it is turned off, never have used it.

 

It seems as though if we could select the HP printer the same way the iOS version does that it would fix the issue. Since we are having problems we are looking at a Star printer. Any issues with printing to one of the two LAN versions with the Android version?
