When are these going to be available to us? I was under the impression that these were going to be issued 4Q of last year and be a rollout to all card holders. We are now into the 2Q of FY16 and I haven't seen any annoucement as to when these will be available to the end users. Thanks!
P.S. Can we get a redesign of the card face? It has had the same design since its inception and it could really use an update considering some of the design changes to the website(s).
As to chip card implementation, there have been lots of delays and even industry changes in requirement dates. In reality, there never were enforceable deadline. Also, the protection offered was to merchants and processors. It really only protects agains use of fraudulent (counterfeit cards), not fraudulent use of a valid card.
I have the PayPal Business Debit - MasterCard. Just wondering if PayPal was ever going to issue chip cards as they had said they were going to in an email. Also, we need a redesign of the card.
Not all banks have issued chip cards and banks don't provide a timetable to users of when they will. There are also a lot of merchants who don't accept chip cards.
The user has essentially the same protection with a magnetic stripe as with a chip card. The bank's risk is less with chip cards for in-person sales. The overall risk for online sales will be higher with chip cards.
I will be traveling in Europe where the CHIP cards are the common, and almost required, form on payment. (unlike the US where it is slower to roll out). Is there a way to get a CHIP card now?
I tried to buy gas at Sam's Club, and then Costco, and neither store will accept this card because it doesn't have the chip! So this is becoming a problem. I hope they issue the new cards with chips SOON.
