Seller fears an unwarranted chargeback, what to do?

Hello,
I'm trying to buy an e-ticket from a fellow fan on Facebook. The guy is probably a fairly reputable seller in his own right (claims to have sold many tickets before). I think that he honestly has good intentions. We're at an impasse, though.
1. He wants to be paid with a "gift" option because he fears that I may chargeback filing a "not as described" claim, or pulling/ trying to pull some other shady stuff.
2. Predictably, I don't feel at ease at all with a "gift" option because it would mean being completely unprotected in the transaction.
Is there a way I can solve this? Or rather, is there a way I can guarantee that he'd be 100% protected as well?
Thanks,
Franco
