Paypal converted currency wrong, so i got charged 50$ instead of 5$...

So I bought a product for 5$. A few minutes later I got charged 50$ from my bank account.

I took a look at the transaction and found out that PayPal had converted $ into my currency completely wrong. 1 DKK (My currency) is equal to 0,16 dollars. In the transaction, it says that 1 DKK = 0,02 USD. Which is completely wrong. I have looked on many different pages to see if the currency has been that low, but it hasnt. It has been stable at 0,16 for a long time.

Obviously, this is a mistake on PayPal's end. I tried to report the transaction as an unauthorized transaction where I explained what happened, but PayPal closed the case saying there was no sign of an error.

Has this happened to anyone else before? And what do I do in this situation?

What is DKK currency?

Where did you find your rate?

How much does your rate fluctuate?

Does you bank charge a foreign transaction fee?

PayPal does use the best bank rate.

DKK is the currency used in Denmark. It has always been relatively stable. It has always been around 0,14-0,16 for as long as I can remember. I have checked many different pages that keep track of currency values and they all say it is 0,16 and has been for the past month. 0,02 is ridiculous. It has never been that low and is definitely a mistake or miscalculation on PayPal's end.

Of course you would an unauthorized charge as you DID authorize the transaction.

If you believe it is an error then make an urgent phone call to PayPal support and ask for the reason.

It is an unauthorized transaction. I agreed to get charged 5$, not 50$. It's not my fault they cant convert currency properly.

I have the same issue, got charged 6055 DKK for a 121$ transaction about 9x the real cost, I called Paypal and they said the had a system error on the 18th resulting in a wrong conversion. I would call them and ensure that it gets fixed.
