Known Issue: Received payments not appearing in balance

"PayPal experienced a brief technical issue yesterday during a planned system update which resulted in some consumers being unable to see a transaction in their account history after it had processed. And, some merchants may not have received immediate payment.

The technical issue has been fixed and PayPal is working to have these transactions reflected accurately for both consumers and merchants.

We apologize for any inconvenience."

Hi everyone,

I know this has been a frustrating issue and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.  I want to assure you this was immediately escalated and is being worked on at a high priority.  We don't have an exact ETA but our engineers are working to fix the transactions affected by this issue as soon as possible.

FAQs

Q. Why I cannot see the money in my balance? I am sure that I received a payment because I received the email confirmation.

A system change last night has resulted in an issue whereby instant bank funded transactions are not appearing on account balances. Once you received the email confirming your payment the transaction did complete but it will only appear in the account balance once this issue is resolved.

Q. Why does the system not allow me to withdraw the payment that I already received?

You will be able to withdraw the funds once the transaction appears on your account balance.

Q. I received a payment, but I cannot see the money in my balance. Should I send the parcel?

Until the payments shows as completed in your account activity log we would advise you not to send out the parcel. We expect this issue to be resolved soon therefore this shouldn't cause any major delay to your parcel send.

It's a bit concerning because a PayPal rep told me last night (9/7) that the target completion date for getting this resolved was 10:00 p.m. (PST). This morning, however, the money was still not in my PayPal account. I called and a rep said they would add my account to the list of "affected accounts," and I should wait about an hour. It's been three hours and the money is still not there. Last night, they described the issue as an actual problem, but today, they claim it is "maintenance." It would be nice if PayPal would make a general announcement about this and be truthful in what is happening and when the funds will be available.

I agree. What concerns me is even after they knew what the problem was they left no notification of it to warn people from trying to use the site. They had no warnings up, no implications of an issue. We all went into Pp blind thinking there was no issue at all b/c they weren't informative of this problem and now several people are affected and can't get anything done about it. No general announcement at all was made, not even over Twitter.

This bites a big one.

Exactly. Why would they not try to prevent further issues by notifying people of the problem??

It's all very shady and unprofessional.

If it was a glitch from an update... that just blows my mind. Does PayPal not do any testing before they go live with an update? This is a MAJOR glitch that should have been caught before pushing it live. If it's something else, I wish they would just own up to it and notify the community so we can know what to expect.

This is a user to user forum, anyone can post there views.

The reason i put ok on some posts is to get rid of them from ''contribute'' so others can get help....ok with you??

If you are not giving help to others then butt out.

So why are you allowed an opinion but not me?

I will post when, where and however many times i want to just like you can and i will say and have an opinion on whatever i want to have an opinion on.

I am affected as well by the missing payments but unlike some once i know its a known issue i don't go phoning / moaning and emailing about it.
