I tried to cancel a preapproved payment but it says inactive instead of canceled.

Hello I purchased from a shady dealer that I found out after investigating that he is a scammer ( i opened dispute) but there is was a preapproved payment "plan" set to him . I went to my preaproved payments and press the cancel button but now it says inactive instead of canceled.  I had canceled preapproved payments again and the status was canceled and not inactive. I am really afraid that the payment might go through or something.

The inactive status may be shown becasue of time frame of the billing cycle however, it should be cancelled at this point.

does that mean that there wont be any more payments to that merchant?
