Credit card vs checking account

Hello,

I added my bank checking account so I can receive money.

But I don't want to have my purchases charged to my checking account.

I have deleted my checking account twice because of this.

Where can I go to make my credit card the preferred paymen t method?

A lot of the places I shop don't give me the option to make a selection.
