Cancel Pending Payment

I was trying to purchase an item and the payment didn't go through, I thought it might have been a mistake, so I tried again, it didn't go through.

I check my paypal and now I have 2 pending payments for a hefty sum of money which I need cancelled.

I thought I'd have to get the company I tried to purchase from to cancel the payments, but they told me that I need to get PayPal to do it, because if I pay the sum, then I won't get the item and they'll still get the money.

I tried to contact PayPal via telephone but the stupid robot is just reading out my transactions and isn't actually trying to help.

I tried to contact paypal via twitter and so far no response, anyone got any idea?

When you pay a company (rather than an ebay seller or individual), then it is often pending until that company processes your order and captures the pending payment.

If they don't process that order and capture the pending payment then the pending status times out at 30 days post-payment.

However the money would be pending in your funding source ie bank account / card, so if you contact them and state the funds will not be required they should be able to release them back to your available balance again.
