I have to make a payment to Germany, I need to give them 3000USD, but I dont know how much to send them so that the transfer fees are covered by me, or how do I configure so that I pay for that fee.

Same problem here. I tried to figure out the fee from "Legal Documents" but got confused. I called customer service twice and got two dufferent answers, does anyone know how to calculate the fee?

We really don't know what the details of the post who bumped the thread so...just letting em know there are calculators out there.

Then again, PayPal discloses the fees in advance each time you initiate a transaction so you know how much it is before submitting payment.

is this for friend and family OR merchandise and goods?

Do you want him to hold US $ or Euro $?

There seems to be a law now in eurozone, anyone receiving 2500 or more in Euros have to present documents who they are,is he ready to do so,if asked?

where is your 3000 US $ COMING from?

your bank account, your paypal fund or credit/debit card?

If you send 3000 US $,is his account set up to receive foreign currency such as US dollars, does he want to keep them as US $ in his PAYPAL ACCOUNT?

If his bank account is set in Euro, and he wants to transfer to his bank account, then there wil be conversion fee,not sure who gets paid,Paypal or the bank

-------------------------

if friend and family or peer to peer.using paypal fund or bank account, there is a fee of 2% for Germany.if using credit or debit card, the fee is 3.4-3/9 % plus.

then comes exchange rate fee,if Paypal has to convert from us$ to euro $,there is a 2 1/2% plus exchange rate.

these fees are all picked up by the sender.

you can find more information on the latest Paypal terms and agreement,it is a mile long.

This Euro zone requirement of 2500 euro dollars applies to the account ,not payment.

if he has an account and been accepting multiple payments amounting to 1400 ,then you send him 3000 ,that will put him over 2500 and Paypal by law has to ask him to present documents, you can search this forum ,not sure which country or the entire euro zone?

An alternative is to use bank wire transfer, for Bank of America small business, the fee is $35 if you are sending a foreign currency, and $45 if sending US dollar.

You must have his bank SWift number .

Not sure if the law applies, but it is better than Paypal.

Bank does not lock up his or your account just because something does not sound right.
