Billing connected to checking account

Typically my checking account says that I have a charge from PayPal when I buy something. I’m wondering why one particular merchant was able to charge me directly, without it saying “PayPal “ when I used PayPal.

it is not possible,are you sure you have done business with that merchant/

sellers who accept Paypal payments do not know how you pay-paypal fund,credit /debit card or bank account  unless you tell him.
