my friends are transferring their euros to dollars and only incurring a 1% fee for any transactions and for all amounts they have transferred (less than 1000 euros).
however, i have had to pay 12 euros to transfer about 250 euros and now have gotten hit with a fee for over 13euros for transferring 380euros.
