This issue has been affecting me as a buyer and as a seller for months now. I have spoken with ebay and paypal both blame each other. I would say it's an ebay issue as the ebay platform doesn't give paypal as a payment option. It's beyond frustrating.
Seems to have been caused by ebay and paypal separating and ebay updating ther checkout system.
The only site that works is ebay.ie (in Europe). eBay.ie still has the old checkout system. I think they have held off updating this website as they know their new system is rubbish. Obviously they aren't saying anything about it on their announcements pages and they haven't contacted anyone affected by it. Customer services are saying it's an intermittent problem.
Our sales have dwindled. Orders aren't being recorded properly as unpaid items and they simply dissapear. We receive messages from customers weeks later (after they thought they purchased something) only for them to be told that there is no record of an order.
So frustrating. We're sending hundreds of paypal invoices after lengthy email/message converstions with customers. This problem has cost us lots of sales and caused a massive increase in admin.
Thankfully it has motivated us to sell on other platforms. We are contemplating leaving eBay.
I have been wondering if this is an attempt from ebay to stop payments going through paypal.
Anyway, I hope this is sorted soon. I can't believe a huge company like ebay would have problems like this. It must be costing them a huge amount in commision.
