order sent to merchant

Can someone please clairfy what "order sent to merchant" means?

I placed an order from Target using my pay after delivery, 1 1st statues update:order received 2nd status update: order sent to merchant,but still pending. Also when I log onto my app (PayPal)it says Target received my order. Thank you so much for any advice given.

It just means Target reccieved you order and sent it along to whichever company is handling the shipping.

I know they sound pretty self explanatory, but I never got a message like that before...so I was confused. Why is it still pending and I have not received a email conformation either,will the email come when "merchant" ships?
