lack of support from paypal when seller takes excessive time giving refund

Love Paypal, they are happy to take a payment from one's bank account almost instantly when one buys something, but if you want a refund as quickly- they allow the seller to use an e-check or bank transfer to repay you!
This is a 5 to 14 day wait! VERY UNFAIR and the poor buyer (me) has to accept ths with holding of funds whilst all and sundry can make use of MY MONEY given in good faith for an item I didn't recieve as teh seller had lost part of the item!!!
HOW IS THIS FAIR or a good service?
What are tehy doing with the money? Walking across Europe carrying a bag of coins? Why can't they hold payments in eskrow until item recieved and accepted? Too much like being helpful eh?
This has to change- useless money grabbing middlemen- be warned!

Actually not quite correct.

When you pay a seller it is never instant > paypal CREDITS the seller for you and then paypal take the wait for the funds to transfer through to reimburse them.

This is so you get your item more quickly AND why we have buyers on here posting that their item is on the way but the funds have not left there bank accounts yet.

Also even when its left your bank account it still takes 3-5 days to get to paypal as they use electronic and not wire transfer so it has to go via automated clearing.

Now to move on to your refund, whilst they are happy to CREDIT the seller in advance for you, they don't REFUND in advance so this time its your turn to take the wait for the funds to transfer from the sellers bank account > paypal and then its credited to you.

And this is meant to make me feel better or appreciate the utter lack of service from Paypal?
This message is actually a corpoarte shil answer- why should I wait for a refund of funds for an item that was never sent and yet the buyer can hold onto my funds for six days? some of which it was resting in PAYPAL's non UK tax paying account?
This is unacceptable and worse that some corpoarte lacky can pretend to give me a credible answer- shame on you

Don't know if it makes you feel better or not, I just took the time to try and explain how paypal works.

Not sure how it can be a corporate answer when i have NOTHING to do with paypal.

So sorry I took the time to respond to your post and try and explain how things work, don't hurry back because i certainly won't bother again.

Going to take the dog for a walk after finishing listing my ebay auctions to get rid of the thought of rude, ungrateful folks like you.

Bye

Do me a favour please, how come you are a volunteer advisor? Is this a form of community service?
and how come you have the empathy of a small rock- I have been seriously wronged by paypals indifference to my predicament and you just rub salt in the wound whilst repeating what the dispute and claims manager agreed with me about.
Paypal can do nothing about how a seller chooses to repay an innocent buyer who paid the moment he won the auction.
This situation sucks and if you cannot regurgitate anything other than paypal untruths I suggest you go and do something more worthwhile with your time.
Rude? you don't know the half of it- I hope your next buying experience is as bad as mine and then we shall see how holier than thou you are then!/

Up yours x

Wow what a rude person.

You asked about refunds and i took the time to give you a clear an answer as i could and all you could do is be rude and accuse me of giving you a corporate answer.

I don't work for paypal and only post on here to try and help folks understand how paypal works.

I was polite and gave as much info as i could

You are something else.

GOODBYE

I know you're upset about getting a refund from a seller in the form of an e-check, and, as a seller I'm upset about e-checks, too!  I hate them!  It's like sending smoke signals in a time of everyone having smart phones, that do everything!  It's ridiculous.  Sellers are forced to accept e-checks from buyers every day, and we don't like it anymore than you do.  I put notes on all my listings that I don't accept e-checks, and buyers do it anyway.  You're not getting your refund in a timely manner, and we sellers don't have a complete sale because it is ridiculously postponed by a buyer using an e-check.  E-checks affect both buyers and sellers, and should be banned.  When you have to return something, you want your money back right away, so you can buy something else to replace the item you returned; when I sell something, I don't extend a self-funded personal credit line, or a signature loan to the buyer -- I don't have that kind of money, and I am not a bank!

There is no reason to be angry at the person who responded to you, everyone feels your pain, because we have to deal with e-checks, too.  I don't know how we can get rid of them, except that if we did a petition signed by many eBay buyers and sellers, maybe we'd get PayPal to reconsider the whole e-check thing, and abolish it?  I think the problem would be getting eBayers to take action and sign the petition.

What do you think?
