Unable to locate a transaction

I purchased an item on eBay on 5/17/16. The seller never shipped it so I filed a case on eBay. Ebay closed the case and supposedly I have gotten a refund for the item. My issue is, when I go to paypal and search my transactions, I find no record of the purchase. I have never had this happen before. I have searched and searched and its not coming up. I know I wasnt credited the refund as my account balance never reflected the change, so I want to know what i need to do to see the transaction and make sure I got my refund.

How many transactions for that date are listed in your PayPal activity page?

There is nothing at all showing for the date of May 17th. This user is also no longer and ebay registered user, and it was ebay that issued a refund through the case I filed for not receiving the item.
