Possible scam?

I am a seller. A buyer is claiming to have sent a payment. How do I confirm if that is true?

Ask them for the transaction id of the payment.

Double check that they sent the payment to the correct email address.

Also ask them what it says next to the transaction in their paypal account ie unclaimed with or without a cancel option OR completed.

But without more info difficult to say anymore.

Go to https://www.paypal.com and log in to your PayPal account.  If you've received a payment, it will be shown on your PayPal account activity and summary pages.
