Please help me to recover payment sent to wrong paypal email address

Hello and thank you ,

 

I teach English by SKype and have been receiving payments from students through Paypal for about 5 years. One of my students has sent me a payment of $100 for her son's lessons, but she used by old Paypal email of  to make the payment to, which is an old dead account from 5 years ago when i was first trying to set up paypal. I don't think that account is even verified or activated, i don't even know my passwards any more and i can't recover them because i can't remember the answers to my security questions. I asked my student to call paypal and she says they told her I have to write to them, but I wrote more than seven days ago in the "Resolution Centre' and nobody at Paypal has replied to me.  This woman now has no trust in me, i think she thinks I am trying to steal money from her, and won't even answer my emails any more. Meanwhile the $100 she sent is stuck in limbo in a dead unused account , and I have not received my payment for the 10 lessons her son has already had with me...:-(  Can somebody please help me?

If you can't add the email address to your paypal account then the only person that can sort it are your buyer or paypal.

 

I don't believe paypal told her you had to write to them thats the last thing they would ask you to do.

You can call them BUT when you get through don't select any options as you will get through to a person more quickly.

 

Failing that the payment will be showing in your buyers paypal account as probably unclaimed with a cancel option (hopefully) so she can cancel and repay you, even if its unclaimed without a cancel option it would return to her 30 days after paying so she should check and see what it says so we can advise further.

The problem is , she is now not even replying to my messages. I have told her she can have the next 10 lessons without payment, until the problem is solved, but still no reply. I tried calling paypal yesterday from the button they have on their 'help' page but there was no reply. Do you know a number which can be called reliably and where someone might answer?

I do know a number but on my paypal account its a UK one as that is where I am.

 

When you click on contact at the bottom of your paypal account don't they supply a number for you like they do here in the UK??

 

If you do get through the tip is not to select any options just hang on till you get through to a person OR say the word agent.

I didn't know I could contact through Facebook. I am in Nicaragua, so don't know how it would help me , they would probably give me a spanish operator and my spanish is non-existent...

Hi again Kernowlass,

 

To be honest, I'm getting pretty desperate. Still not had any reply to my emails from Paypal, or any reponse to my Dispute Resolution message. Nothing...Nada.  This is pretty shabby.
