Payment made, with no funds?

Hello. So here's my problem... I didn't pay my Netflix account the last month, because I have spent the whole month with a broken leg in my bed, so I couldn't go add funds to my debit card. Netflix cancelled my account a week ago. Now, I wanted to start a new account and when I added my info, it said my PayPal already was in their records. So I finished the registration, and a few minutes later I got an email from PayPal saying that a payment to Netflix has been successfully completed, like if they charged my cancelled account? Thing is, I had no funds in my PayPal account nor my credit card, and still it was completed. I don't get what happened or what's going on? I'm afraid I will be charged with fees later on, if the payment was made and will be charged to me once I add funds...
