PayPal currency conversion rates different to 'real' live rates?

Hey everyone,

First of all, I'm fairly sure this isn't the right section, but I couldn't find any that fit my question properly.

Okay, so my issue is that when I was going through the PayPal checkout for an order I was placing on scan.co.uk, I saw the rates were noticeably different than what the actual rates are. This wouldn't be such a big deal, only I'm placing a big order (it's not 17euro, the pic is just to show). Why is this?

Thanks in advance. 🙂

There are fees associated with currency rates.  Each transaction service has a rate and fee and they are not all the same.  Not all services get the best rate.

Hey, thanks for the answer.

So is this because of PayPal? What I mean is, if I just payed by credit card, would the real conversion rate apply instead?

There is a bid and ask rate,no such thing as REAL RATE !

Also depends on how much you are buying or selling, size does matter.
