PAY PAL FEES

I am trying to wrap my head around this one. Pay Pal is now charging 3 1/2 to 5 percent of my sale to use the paypal account. A couple of years ago I sold about 3 - 8 items a day. I haven't really paid attention to the details lately, because I was only selling an item or two a week. Would it not be better to use the card reader for Visa - Mastercard and not go through paypal ? They only charge 2.9 percent . They are already making money from the eBay side. Listing Fees, Final value fees, Plus all the fees from Pay Pal. Some on help me out here. It is not worth it to list on eBay for the little guy. Has the government taken over Ebay and Paypal ?

But would you sell anything??

As a buyer i would never send money to a stranger without paypals buyer protection.

I have had several occasions when sellers would not refund for items lost in the post or misdescribed but luckily i had used paypal.

GOFLYBOY,

Just curious, per your post, are you selling to both US and International customers as you mentioned that your fees are 3.5% to 5%?  The PayPal fees posted here are between 2.9% and 3.5%.

We use PayPal for website online sales and Square for in person and phone.  Both work well.  Square is straight forward very easy to use.
