Well, it's just a thought, but, I have never understood how a computer digital bank transaction takes that length of time? It should have been back in your account the same day it was refunded. Just like sending an email to someone and them getting it within the same day. To me, It's nothing but a BS ruse. Most likely, they are sitting on it so they can collect any accumulated interest it may have during the time they are holding it. I would have an attorney get in touch with them demanding your money back, and any interest it may have accumulated during that time.

Hi Khaled72,

I'm sorry to hear that you did not have a pleasant experience using PayPal.  That's certainly not what we want for our customers.

When it comes to refunds, the time frame can vary based on many factors including merchant time frames, how the original payment was funded and time frames associated with the bank or card issuer.  While these are digital transactions as marhuf55 mentioned, these transactions are not instant as one may expect.  With the great number of transactions that payment processors process each day, many banks and processors rely on batch processing when it comes to the settlement of funds.  Then the time frames can depend heavily on how often these batches are processed.  Even with purchases, the merchant is typically only getting a promise that the funds are available (an authorization).  The actual transfer of money usually happens later in a separate step.

As you mentioned you went through checkout as a guest, the original purchase was probably done using a card.  If I'm right about that, we will immediately credit a refund back to the same card as soon as the merchant initiates the refund.  Most card issuers will reflect a refund back to the card account within a few days but some may take much longer.  In some cases we see it take up to 30 days depending on the card issuer.  Either way, these are not time frames we can control.  I know many times the refund is there but the card company just hasn't updated the account activity to reflect the change.  You may be able to contact your card issuer to see if they have record of the refund and can provide more information about their typical refund time frames.  In this case if the refund still has not appeared within 30 days, we have the option to initiate a trace with our processor.  Please contact support to initiate the trace at that time:  https://www.paypal.com/help

I hope this helps! 🙂
