Customers unable to complete payment as guest

I had three customers email me today sayingthat they were trying to make payment by entering their credit cards (not signing in with a paypal account) and they were denied each time.
The shopping cart has been working fine for people who sign in to their paypal accounts.
Here is one email that I got from one of them:
"I tried to order the field guide from your website as a guest and not using paypal and it would not take my everyday debit card. This is a card I use every day for almost everything I purchase and your order processing system would not accept it. That is unacceptable as this is a valid card I have used two or three times day alone. I don’t know what the problem is but this must be costing you business."
Any ideas on what is going wrong and what I can do to fix it?

Sorry, I don't have a solution to your problem, but I am experiencing the same issue. A customer tried to pay as a Guest with two separate valid credit cards and was denied each time.

Same problem. I even tried creating a new invoice for the customer and it still hangs in processing payment as a guest.
Not all customers want to become a Paypal member, if that is required for payments, then I really can't use Paypal anymore, either.

Same problem. Customer tried. It hung. Tried different PC. Still hung.
Gave me his card info and I have tried in firefox, and chrome, then tried a different PC.
Called the company and they escalated it but seem unaware of this problem.
I wonder if the company reads these posts. If so, please fix this.
When software hangs and gives no response, over and over, it is almost certainly a software issue.

Anybody have any news on this? I've been having the same issue. 4-5 customers are all stuck and every time they enter their info it says 'The card you entered cannot be used for this payment.' We made a test from europe and it worked. The users that are blocked were in the US.
I don't know what's going on except I've got angry customers.
