I have had a PayPal account for over a decade, although I have stopped using it for the past two years for anything except small purchases of intangible software products on several occasions. My original bank account that was linked to the PayPal account has been closed and I have not linked another one yet, however I do have funds in my account. The issue resides mostly in that I am not currently living in the US and have closed my US banks because of excessive banking fees.
Recently I attempted to purchase software development services from a site called Freeleancers and despite several attempts none have been succesful as I keep getting a message..."Please link your PayPal account to a credi/debit card"
So is this for real? I cannot access my own money in PayPal simply because its not linked to a CC? This is after all MY MONEY, and I could understand it if I were a seller and the idea was to enusre that I could refund the money if required too....but that is not the case, I am the BUYER and these are my funds to spend as I see fit. How to fix this matter without linking my account to a CC?
