10 days for refund from Amazon-Still isn't in my account. Amazon or Paypal's fault?

Amazon took around $90 out of my account without my permission on September 13th. It cleared/completed from my paypal on September 18th. I immediately contacted Amazon that day who told me they issued a refund and I should expect it in 2 to 3 business days. 2 to 3 came and went, no refund,no sign of refund pending in Paypal. I've contacted Amazon multiple times and they tell me the refund was issued that day, there is nothing more they can do. We are now at day 10. I was told Thursday by Amazon that it would absolutely be NO later than 24-48 more hours, including weekends. Well, as you can see the weekend came and went....no refund. There is nothing on my pending, no sign of it anywhere. They're trying to tell me that because I used a pin-less debit card (used my Paypal debit which took half the money from my Paypal account, half from my backup funding) that was that was the reason it took 10 days instead of the normal 2-3. I just want my money back! I feel like I've contacted Amazon over and over. Is this Paypal's fault for the delay?

No, it doesn't show anything. No record of the refund at all in paypal.

I didn't think that Amazon accepted PayPal as a payment source (they don't).

Did you use your PayPal debit card? If the refund shows on your Amazon order history, at the bottom of the order detail screen, then the issue is PayPal's. Otherwise Amazon customer service is excellent, in my experience.

Hi Amanda416,

Thanks for posting to the community. We are excited to have you join our forums. 🙂

Every card issuer is different, so Amazon may not know the specific time frame for the refund to post back to the card. In most cases, a refund will post back to the PayPal Debit MasterCard within a few business days. The time frame can depend on when the refund was initiated by the merchant and our processor's time frames to complete the refund. Sometimes refunds processed to the PayPal Debit MasterCard will not post to the original transaction, but will display as a separate transaction received.

If the refund is still not showing in your PayPal account, please contact PayPal support.
