No Second Chances?

I was trying to add money from a MoneyPak today, when PayPal asked me to enter my personal info for verification. I got to the part where it said SSN, and the display was xx## (xx and two numbers, which is my correct SSN).

I clicked confirm (or yes or ok) and PayPal immediately limited my account saying that it couldn't verify who I was. I'm guessing that I was suppose to replace the two x's with the actual number. Usually, when X's are displayed on an online form, it means the data already exists but the numbers are omitted for safety reasons.

The fact that it only takes one wrong attempt to lock my account is ridiculous. The fact that I can send money and not add money also seems counterintuitive. And since I refuse to send any physical proof of my identity as that's pretty much setting me up for identity theft, goodbye PayPal account.

I know that my account is now limited forever, but I was wondering if anyone else got **bleep** over the same way.

Oh no it's fine. I know there's only one way to resolve this issue and that involves sending just about every piece of ID I have. I know i'm **bleep**. No need for a resolution.

I'm just wondering if anyone else here got **bleep** over the same way.

A suggestion. When you make copies of your identification make sure there is a watermark over each piece.

I don't know if that would alleviate the thoughts of identity theft but it might be a good idea.

As for the one chance and you're scre**d, THAT has to be wrong. It is very stupid and I can't imagine...oh wait my bad. This is PP!

Bottom line though, if this is actually a policy it is indeed ridiculous. Smiley Frustrated
