NSF caused by Paypal?

On March 26 I hooked up a MC gift card to my paypal account so that when I ran out of money on my paypal it would take from the giftcard. So that day I paid for items on eBay and while paying it said that if I didn't have enough on paypal, it automatically would take from the giftcard. So that went through fine, no problems, and I knew it would take from the giftcard cause I had no money on my paypal. On April 1st I did the same, bought some more items and it gave me the same message saying that the money would be taken from the giftcard if paypal ran out. So I did that and the next day I checked my bank account to see that for some reason, paypal hadn't taken money out of the giftcard the second time on Apr 1st, but instead it took directly from my bank account which led me to have a -127.50 insufficent fund fee. I called paypal and they told me I need to talk to my bank about getting that money back, even though its paypals fault for not charging the card and instead taking from my bank account.. and my bank said I need to talk to paypal seeing as it was their mistake and can't return my money... What do I do here? Who should I talk to, or should I get them both to call each other?

I am running into the same issue.  I added a gift card last month because I knew an transfer from my bank account would not make a payment date on time.  Paypal tried to take the money from my bank account when there were not enough funds.  Called them and thought I had fixed the problem.  Did not worry about this month since I had the credit card on file and it just happened again today and I was told that Paypal automatically defers to the bank account instead of the credit card.  (I Wish I had been told that in the 2 hours I was on the phone with Paypal) I Tried to get my $45 in NSF charges back and was told they dont have the authority to give me the NSF charges and that I would have to go through the bank.  Since I went through this last month I KNOW the bank will not reverse the NSF charges.   I am NOT a happy camper and am thinking of completely closing my Paypal account.
