Trouble Processing my Online Payment

Everything checks out fine on the merchants site end of the order but when I log into my PayPal account when checking out I get a notification box saying "This merchant only accepts instant payments. To continue with this purchase link a debit or credit card to your PayPal account Or choose other options below.". I have my debit card linked to my account and my account balance is high enough to accommodate my order yet I cannot process the payment and the "options below" are to link a credit card or add money to my account from an existing linked debit card, which I have done. Any help is greatly appreciated!
