retrieving order details from eBay directly or PayPal

It  seems difficult to retrieve order details  for the past tax year. Ebay doesn't deal with payment processing  especially if past 60 days and u are required to call Paypal to review  order details  especially if PayPal was not  used in some measure. At least on Amazon  u can retrieve order details  from the item itself without having to call in and be put on hold for 30-40 mins. This recently happened to me  when looking for year end  expenses and the method of payments used for each purchase for the whole year. When i did get thru I was told he  would  send me an email of all last years transaction with that detail but 6 hours later i am still waiting to get that email for my tax reporting. When i called again to see  what happened to my report the wait was 40 mins. This is not customer  service but rather annoyance. Someone needs to examine their customer service  and efficiency  of online services. I initially thought i could find this data just like Amazon  but  after trying to find  order detail and specific transaction  info on method of payment i gave up and called ebay -then PayPal two times over 6 hours to get what i asked for. The whole experience is rather cumbersome and  poor use of time if compared to the Amazon site.

So, eBay only keeps sold listings information for up to 90 days and PayPal keeps transactions for a few years - I'm not sure how long. But, here's what you can do from your PayPal account:

  1. Log into your PayPal business account. I don't know if this will work on personal accounts and I don't know if you get to keep your transaction history, but you most likely will be able to keep them (not guaranteed), if you do change your personal account to a business or premier account. Changing or getting a business account is 100% free - if you don't count the cost of electricity and internet.

  2. Navigate to the Download History page by choosing Activity at the top of the page, and then clicking Download on the right side of the Activity page.

Note: If you do not see an Activity link at the top of the page, click History, which appears in the top menu when the My Account tab is selected, and then select Download History from the History menu.

  3. Click on the Customize Download Fields link on the right to open the Customize My History Download page. On this page, you can select the fields you would like included in the download.

  4. Click Save to save any changes you make to this page, or Cancel to return to the Download History page.

  5. On the Download History page, select the date range and the desired file type as well as other options.

  6. Click the Download History button to open or save the file containing the requested history.

You may also find this following link to be helpful for your business, as well: https://business.paypal.com/merchantdata/reportHome.

If you're not able to download your transaction history, then you will need to contact PayPal's technical support by phone at https://www.paypal.com/selfhelp/contact/call or by email at https://www.paypal.com/selfhelp/contact/email. It will help if you and the employee's to take a breather...

and...

to...

calm...

down.

Did that help? Let me know if it did by giving me some kudos! If it didn't, well, let me know how it was resolved! Enjoy!

I thought I submitted a reply to this but I guess it didn't go through. If you have a business account, you can follow these steps: Step 1. Login to PayPal on your computer. Step 2. Go to your account activities page. Step 3. On the right side, there should be a link that says something about downloading your transactions - I don't remember what said. It should be a link between the transactions and the bar that searches transactions. Step 4. At this point, you should be able to customize what you would like to download. Let me know if this helps. I'll give a full step-by-step tomorrow. Also, eBay keeps and allows you to access sold listings up to 90 days. No more and no less than 90 days. Enjoy!
