Will PayPal delay a large payment?

I will be receiving a large payment (£3k) for a car that I'm selling. The buyers will come to my house, transfer the payment on PayPal and then take the car away. Will PayPal delay this payment given that it's a large transaction or release right away? Am I safe to release the car if the payment shows up in my PayPal account as pending payment? Is there anything that the buyer can do in advance before the day so that we don't face any problems? Thanks

You know that because the vehicle is being picked up - you won't have any Seller Protection.   And is the buyer using the send money feature ??  Or did you send them an invoice  ??   Why not ask for "cash" ??

Here's a few things that can go wrong:

Yes, the funds can be held for up to 21 days however, if your account is "verified" and the sender's account is "verified", and both your account and the sender's account have no open disputes, claims or a history of refunds or returns - then yes you should get you money quickly.    On the other hand, if the sender or buyer uses the send money feature and selects the "friends and family" option as a way to skirt the transaction processing fees which you would pay, your funds could be held up.  And what if, you get paid, but the funds are in a pending status, the buyer picks up the vehicle and the following day reports to PayPal they have had an unauthorized transaction in their account.  PayPal will review the transaction, see that money was sent and may possibly reverse the transaction .  Now you have no vehicle and no money - Point is deals like this offer you no protection - ask for cash - if the buyer pushes back - you'll find another.

PayPal will likedly hold the funds for at least 21 days, not because the high amount but because it is extremely high risk of loss for several reasons

First, it is a vehicle so there is no seller protection.

Second, it is a local pickup so no seller protection.

Third, it is at extreme risk of buyer dispute for 180 days.

If the buyer files a dispute YOU wil lose.  You will have given the car to the buyer and the buyer will take back the money paid and can do it for up to 180.  You will have NO recourse to get your money back.

The only safe way to sell a vehicle is cash as time of pickup.

some sellers will ask for a deposit via Paypal and then ask him to bring full cash on day of pickup, you get the cash and refund his PAYPAL deposit.

no way anyone is going to accept paypal for local delivery for $3k.

when does title change hands?
