PayPal Shipping Rates vs. USPS Rates

Please help!

I support a non-profit and we mail a calendar every year.

When the calendar is taken to the Post Office, the postage is $1.74 based on first class postage.

When I print a mailing label from PayPal, using first class parcel which is what I've been told to use, the postage for the same envelope is nearly $1.00 more to mail which is a lot.

Can anybody please help me understand why there's a difference? I don't want to manually write labels and take the envelopes to the Post Office this year but $1.00 more per envelope is a lot for a non-profit.

Thank you!

You are comparing 2 different postal service rates.

What type of service is the USPS offering?

What USPS is offering not the same as the first class package rate PayPal offers.  PayPal does not offer a first class letter service.

USPS package rate first class is at least 2 ounces and cost is $2.61 with tracking.

what your post office quotes you is letter rate,no tracking, like mailing a letter or documents.

if you want to save money, then use letter /envelope rate with no tracking and print the name and address ,and take it to the post office.
