Invoice or "Request Money"

I am running a small photography business. I am trying to figure out the best way to recieve my deposits for the sessions that I am scheduling. It is required that a $10 deposit gets paid to hold their session. I have been using the "request money" option as it seems really easy. But it is telling me that the money isn't available for like 21 days. it is a non refundable deposit and I am just wondering how I know I will even get the money if their session has came and past. I am just so confused.

most paypal payments are for goods, few are for services, uploading tracking showing you haev shipped the item and it has been delivered will get your fund released sooner than later.

but yours is a deposit ,no goods changed hands.

you can mark it processed and it will be released after 21 days.this is new seller hold, old timers do not have such restriction.

you can also ask your customers to mail you a check,as Paypal payment for lessons and deposit have no proof you have delivered any thing, you could lose the money if they tell Paypal they receive nothing from you.

Paypal is not for everyone for every occasion.

It really isn't non-refundable as the buyer can dispute for goods/services not received and get a refund.  Make sure you understand PayPal policies for deposits and also make sure you comply with credit card chargeback risks.
