I just got off the phone with a supervisor at PP who admitted that he and his underlings LIED ... They kept claiming that sellers get 10 days to respond to a claim because it is a law. When I asked for the statute stating such they could not cite it. When I push back asking for the passage the PP UA they could not cite the 10 day rule. As a buyer I am expected to be honest but PP and the seller can play games with my money. Why is that ??

Once a dispute is filed, you have 20 days to escalate to claim. After escalation to a claim, all communication between you and seller ceases in the case and sellers do usually have 10 days to respond and provide info requested by PayPal.
See: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/brc/disputes-claims-chargebacks-and-bank-reversals
Under Claims section:
How will the claim be processed?
If a claim is filed, the seller is asked to respond within 10 days. If the seller doesn’t respond, the claim will automatically close in the buyer’s favor, and a full refund will be issued. If the seller does respond, PayPal will work to evaluate the information provided and determine the outcome of the claim. This process usually takes about 30 days, but more complex cases could take longer than 30 days.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

" the seller is asked " is what is in the UA. No law cite no UA cite. Is this a joke ? The honest buyer has to take his time ( which is money ) and deal with the poor excuses for employees at PP and the dishonest sellers . Is there no solution to the dishonest seller and PP allowing the seller to stall right to the last day or just default and I get the refund the seller promised a week ago... ?

Joke or not, 10 days is the limit for the seller to respond after escalation. If seller do not respond in the case in that time, PayPal makes a decision in a couple days. And seller is not responding to you, but to PayPal.

All you are dping is puking up the corporate bs. It is not a law or a written policy. Did you read the UA or even my initial post. Its more of a tradition than a rule or policy. BTW I was able to contact the seller through a police department contact I have and seller hung up on me !!!!!!!!!!!!! What does that tell you about the seller ?????????????? You must work for PP. I am filing a complaint with the FCC, FTC and the BBB. I am thankful that the amount in question is less than $ 50.00 and I paid with a CC.
