Cancelled payment, after receiving

Selling a gift card on eBay. This person won the auction and paid. They messaged me and tried me to get then to send them the code instead of shipping it. Well, I'm smart enough to say no to that because how I understand it that is a very common scam with gift cards. So I wake up this morning to a email that they are disputing their payment, saying it was and "Unauthorized Payment" or it was made without their knowledge (which is a load of crap). Paypal told me to resolve it in the resolution center. In the resolution center, they have 3 possible options for me. Either that I have already issued a refund, I will issue a refund, or I already shipped it. I haven't shipped it yet but I am ready to, but if I do ship and then enter the tracking number in the resolution center, will I keep their money? Or will they end up scamming me? This guy is getting negative feedback either way, but I want to make sure it's worth sticking it to him or if I should I refund him so don't get scammed.

If he has filed an unauthorised payment then it means he is saying that his paypal account has been hacked and used without his consent.

If paypal believe that may be true then he gets his money back BUT you would be reimbursed as long as you met ALL the requirements of seller protection.

However I tend to think paypal use every ploy to find a reason you did not meet that criteria and so they don't reimburse you.

So personally I WOULD NOT SEND THE ITEM. I would refund him and relist or offer second chance to an underbidder.

Oh and by the way you can't leave negative feedback for buyers on Ebay, you can only leave positive or none at all.

Just refund and move on; you didn't ship so there is nothing to lose.  You ship and thenyou lose the card AND the buyer will also get a refund AND you will have a $20 chargeback fee.

Seling the gift card is extremely high riisk.  Refund while you can.

Sell again later, but you will have the same risk of loss when a buyer claims the card was invalid.

There is no seller protection for gift cards, shipped or not shipped.
