I am overhauling my web site and moving it to WordPress, and I want to connect a PayPal icon/link to my Shopping Cart.
I am working with a web designer who says he needs my username and password in order to do this. BUT, I have money in my PayPal account! If I let him do this, should I move all the money to my bank account first? (But--wouldn't he be able to withdraw from there if he wanted to as well?) And is there a way to move that amount back to PayPal from my bank after I change my password? Or can I finish up the Shopping Cart myself and leave him out of it? (I'm getting pretty good with html code.)
I noticed in WordPress that there is a place to type in my PayPal URL (which I don't know how to find). Do I then link this URL to the PayPal icon in my Shopping Cart?
Needing some guidance and hope someone can help. Thank you.

I appreciate your apprehension at letting your web guy have your user name and password but he does need it in order to set up your PayPal acct with your website. I had to trust my web lady too. If you know how to do this yourself then maybe you'd feel safer doing that. I wish I knew how to do it!
Why not just put your PayPal $$ in your bank account and leave it there? Then you dont need to worry.

Not really sure why your web designer is asking for your PayPal User ID and Password. That just does not make sense unless you're relying on your developer to do everything for you and you also need to use PayPal's Inventory feature. As there's really not enough details posted in your thread to justify that request I would be questioning your web designer. First, Wordpress does not accept the standard PayPal item buttons which are HTML Forms. It will work with the email version or hypertext version of the item button code. That code can be manually created without having access to your account - all they would need from you is your PayPal email address or merchant ID for the "business" value variable.
Note, if you need to use PayPal's inventory feature, then that changes a few things however, assuming you have a Business Account, you can use the Multi-User Access feature. This feature is intended for an Account owner to allow another person access to their account without having to provide your user ID and password. As the Account owner, you assign the user a user name (not an email address) and a password and you also assign specific access permissions.
Check out this User Guide as it explains more in detain what you can do with Multi-User Access:
