Accepting payments in multiple currencies while keeping the balance in the respective currency

I am creating a processor for a product that can accept multiple currencies based on the clients needs. The system might need the balance to stay in that currency and not be exchanged automatically to USD.

The clients could be using PayFlowPro gateway with their own merchant account or a regular Paypal account.

What is the best way of setting this up? From what I can see, there are a few possibilities.

1) Recommend that the clients have a seperate account for each currency they need to process - they then setup each account in that specific currency and we send to the correct gateway based on the currency. In this scenario,  do we need to send the currency in the CC transaction?

2) We have one payflowpro/paypal account with multiple currencies - Is it possible to maintain seperation of currencies within one account? In this scenario, we would need to send the currency in the CC transaction. Is this a complex configuration?

I would appreciate any recommendations / help regarding how to set this up.

Thanks,

Motty

motty-

Welcome to the boards!

Let me start this off by stating I know nothing about the specifics of Payflow. I know what it is and how it works, but when it gets down to the nitty gritty, this might be completely off base.  However, in a 'normal' PayPal account, you can open up different currency balances and any incoming payments would remain in that currency.

You can follow the instructions laid out here and rather than making one currency primary, you would just choose which currencies you're looking for and open a new balance in it.  Then any incoming payments in that currency would remain in that currency.

Hope that helps somewhat.
