Hi. I know from January 2018 that companies can no longer pass on the fee for customers paying by credit card within the EU. I am using a company in France for a holiday, they use paypal rather than having a card machine. They said theyd send a link through but they would have to charge me 3% fee for using the card - it wasn't their policy it was card companies. Is there a loophole that allows them to still charge me the fee as they are using PayPal or is it also illegal to charge me this fee for using PayPal. I really like the company and I have a good relationship with them so it maybe an oversight on there behalf as they are a small business, but the holiday itself is costing 5k and I wanted to pay half on card having given them half via bank transfer. I am worried as I don't want to ruin the good friendship we have by peeing them off by telling them they cant pass on this charge!
