I had a very similar experience. Someone accessed my account and bought £900 of goods from two shops. i saw a popup on the taskbar which i read and immediately checked my e-mails and the message about a transaction was not there. i then went into hotmail account from firefox and checked my deleted items and there it was, with other e-mails. Weird since these deleted e-mails were not visible when i access my hotmail from desktop. anyway, somebody had created accounts with two online retailers and bought goods for £900 and deleted all correspondence from my hotmail. i immediately contacted the retailers and told them of this fraud and orders were cancelled (28th and 29th May 2019) i contacted paypal who denied my dispute because these were not Unauthorised! i sent numerous e-mails to paypal who have ignored me. i called them and spent a very frustrating 30 minutes or so explaining to some arrogant half-wit who eventually told me the transactions went ahead because i authorised them. when i enquired about anti fraud measures in place he said they look at IP address and delivery address. when i explaind that the IP address of the person in question was some 200 miles from me and the delivery address is maybe 150 miles away up in Scotland, he said that it was not suspicious activity. i asked to speak to someone else and he refused to allow it. i asked to speak with his supervisor and he refused. i then demanded to speak to his supervisor several times and he eventually said that i could have a call back sometime before 17:45. i said OK he them hungup on me and i waited. nobody called back. that was several days ago and still no response, not even to all of my e-mails i have sent since then have been sent in vain. the bank declined one direct debit because of lack of funds, but the other has been paid (£650) and the bank can do nothing because it was a direct debit that was setup in my name. now how did they get access to my hotmail (also gmail) and paypal? i believe it was an employee from a company who i bought a camera from 3 years ago. PS, the Police will do nothing as "they have other things to do"
