Had an extremely rude call from Paypal collections this morning to say that I owed them £3,000 and that I had 7 days to pay or else they are sending round debt collectors - as far as I knew my account balance was zero! It looks like someone has fraudulently made 80 transactions on my account in the last month totalling around £3,000, which were definitely not me. Because of the high amount, the direct debit on my credit account obviously bounce hence the call from Paypal. Paypal are absolutely refusing to investigate and claim they are 'not suspicious' transactions so I had no option but to pay the amount in full. This is absolutely ridiculous and I cannot believe the manner in which Paypal conduct their business. Its no surprise then that they are no longer FCA approved so it seems they can just do what they want! My only thought is to get a specialist lawyer involved to get Paypal to reverse the charges. Any ideas as for what to do next - or should I just assume Paypal are going to be zero help and get my lawyers involved? Thanks in advance.
