So I'm getting the following:
Your most recent notification received yesterday stated:
Dear Morgan, We need your help resolving an issue with your PayPal account. To help us verify your identity, please provide the following documents: - A copy of your government-issued photo ID (i.e. passport, driver's license) that includes your date of birth. - A copy of a utility bill verifying your address. We can also accept a copy of the bank statement, credit card statement, or 401K or brokerage statement. The document must have been issued within the last 12 months, contain your name and the residential address listed on your PayPal account. We are unable to complete verification using a PO Box address. - A copy of your social security card, W-2 or pay stub. If you don't have access to any of these documents, you can go to your local Social Security Office and request a letter verifying your Social Security number that they will date, sign, and stamp. OR - A copy of your IRS statement verifying your full Individual Taxpayer Identification number (ITIN).
And the previous email:
Dear morgan,
We need your help resolving an issue with your PayPal account.
What's the problem?
Before we can offer you certain products and services, federal regulations require that we collect specific information to verify your identity. This information includes your name, address, date of birth, and National Tax ID or Social Security Number. We haven't been able to verify your identity using the information you provided, so we need some additional documentation from you.
Until this issue is resolved, you'll be able to log in to your PayPal account but you might not be able to add money to it or use some of your account features.
They are requesting more information than even a credit card company would require. In this day and age of fraud and companys that can't protect your information, why would I need this? First they cite "an issue with my account" then cite "federal regulations". Hmmmm, my bank doesn't require all this! I have sent them comments, but those comments are then hidden in their site so you can't retrieve them. They are basically saying they would 'hold' my money until this is settled. So They are 'holding' my money ransom until I give them too much information? Is anyone else being subjected to this unusual requirement? I have no issue with my credit nor my identity. They just keep replying with the same request and no one to talk to.
