Thanks for that, and I can see your reasoning; it just staggers me that people could be so devious. However, it would be so easy simply to get the buyer, upon collection, just to sign a receipt to say goods collected in as described condition. You see, the reason why I have chosen PayPal on this occasion and in the past too, is that when someone wins they pay via paypal and are committed. If it's cash on collection then they might win something and then have second thoughts and simply not show up - as happened to my other buyer who won my very heavy lathe for £80 and then simply disappeared and so I have had to relist it. I can understand the reasoning now that you have explained it, but I still don't understand why there isn't the facility to mare something as collected, after it's been paid for via paypal, and positive feedback given - all on the same day. Can't see why paypal need to hang onto my money for 3 weeks in that situation. And as for the non collection of my lathe and the backing out by my buyer from Portugal after he won it - he's legally committed to complete under |English Law of Contract, but didn't and I can do nothing about it - eBay seems resigned to this behaviour as far as I can see and reading through their blurb, it seems that they do precious little to enforce completion. |And - as for the overseas problem, that is not being able to send an invoice unless I specify a postage method - he may well have been an overseas buyer, but he cold have arranged for local collection by a relative, or some well motivated do gooder. He might even have two homes - one here and one over there - surely I should be able to send an invoice to a buyer from abroad and not include a postage charge and service, especially as it was very clearly described, twice, as collection only! ………………… or is it me who is peculiar? Best wishes, Paul
