@paulabrann I sell a lot of items that are collected, I would rather the buyer did not turn up and pay than pay and lose money and item with a dispute. Also English law does not apply in Portugal. But be very careful, yes he may get a friend or relative to collect but again without tracking you would lose any dispute. Your call really but I personally much prefer cash in hand.
