Hello all
I am wondering if I could get some feedback. I am a buyer in the housing market. I am English and I am buying in Bulgaria. I found a property and offered to pay the asking price. The estate agent said to send over a deposit of 500 Euro to reserve the property. I did so. The next day, I receive an email saying that they only received 482.65 Euro because of commission fees. I sent another payment of 17.35 Euro to the company. They are in credit of 500 Euro while I am in debt of 517.35 in doing this transaction.
The next day (after paying 517.35 Euro) the estate agent company emailed me and said that the property was sold months ago. I asked for my money back. The company is offering me a refund of 499 Euro. I am a little disgruntled. I think I should be refunded the full amount of what I paid out - which was 517.35 Euro because it wasn't my fault the property had been sold. The property was listed on their website as 'available' and they asked for and received a deposit for its sale when they clearly had not spoken with the seller at the time of doing so. Surely, no money should have been exchanged at this point in time? Is it unfair for me to request the company to cover the lose of the fees, so as to refund me 517.35 of what it cost me in total. Do you have a legal leg to stand on? Why should I have to lose 18.35 Euro in this deal?
