I don't understand "split this" which is appearing under almost every Paypal transaction I've made. I've never seen it before. It looks like it's some way of getting a friend to pay for half a purchase. Not sure why I'd ever want to do that, but let's say for example for some crazy reason I want to share a lawnmower with my neighbour. So I still have to pay the full £100 for the mower on Ebay, then get the payment split so my neighbour pays half. Why can't he just give me £50 cash? Or send me a private Paypal payment? This seems complicated and unnecessary. Can anyone provide a situation where this is useful?
