You really would be best biting the bullet and telephoning them.  When the automated message options start playing do NOT give the answer they want. Force the system to error by saying "I want to speak to customer service" or whatever repeatedly. Eventually, you will be transferred to a human when you can then explain your problem. ... View more

@john_ladlywrote: Im trying to close my account and the message says-unable to close at the moment as it has a pre-payment set up. How do I get rid of the pre-payment? If you have set up a repeat or recurring payment that is made via Paypal that is linked to your credit card, you may also have to contact the other party and get them to cancel. This is why you should never set up repeating payment authorisations for subscriptions etc via a credit card. ... View more

You bank issued debit card is linked to your bank account. That said, Im not surprised the awful validation on Paypal allowed you to enter a 16 digit number for your bank account!   Contact your bank and ask them to search for the money. You will need to give them the date you started the transfer, amount and that it came from your Paypal account. It may be the money has got diverted into a bank holding account. And in future no, I wouldnt use your debit card number to transfer money into. ... View more

So, to update this, today 22 March and a number of days after the Resolution Centre next action date of 18 March passed, PP have returned the status to appeal again. How can they do that, I understood there was only one opportunity to appeal but the seller appears to have been allowed two bites of the cherry. And in neither opportunity have I been given the chance to refute any other evidence the seller, who has told a pack of lies todate, may have provided. ... View more

Contact your bank or card issuer and tell them of the unauthorised debit from your account ie if the money came straight out of your bank account, contact your bank. If the money was deducted from your PP linked credit card, contact your card provider.   Sorry but trying to talk to a human at PP is difficult. You have to force the telephone menu into an error to direct you to a person. So for example when the IVR asks for your details just keep saying 'I want to speak to disputes operator.' This will eventually error the IVR system and you should be connected to a human voice. Whether you get any better results though is debatable. ... View more

Completely agree, the whole process is faulty. My dispute required me to provide some info regarding postage tracking. I entered this and when clicking submit, the process failed and di not allow me to re enter!  A dispute is only supposed to go to appeal once but the seller has been able to do this twice (status change to appeal then being considered by PP to appeal again).   Donot bother with PP dispute. If you can raise a chargeback with your card company. ... View more

To be honest, if I had known how 'difficult' the dispute process is, I would have just raised a chargeback with my credit card company. I followed the Paypal tutorial about a dispute and found the seller escalated 'my' dispute. The tutorial also doesnt say enter all information to support your case, it specifically states try and negotiate with the seller. That then left me disadvantaged. My seller says they have never had a dispute before but, they have played the system expertly to their advantage.   If you had no funds in your PP account and paid with a card via PP, just go to your card issuer and ask for a chargeback. ...
