No it's the backup function itself they are taking away: if there is not a balance or enough of a balance on the PayPal account they will decline any charges that are made on the PP Business Debit Card. I have about 20 accounts set up for Auto Pay I will have to change them all of waste hours of my time checking before each Auto Pay processes that there is a balance available. It looks like both Square and Stripe are good alternatives, I'll be moving all three of my eCommerce sites 100% off of PayPal by the time they strip the backup funding benefit from their Business Account customers.  ... View more

Right, this scenario you describe was never in question and is not the problem. For instance: if you have your business phone bill set to auto-pay from your PayPal Business Debit Card and the bill is $300 but on the day the payment is processed you only have a $299 balance on your PayPal account they will return the payment to your phone company instead of drawing the additional $1 from your backup bank account to complete the payment. ... You would have to transfer funds from your bank to the PayPal account, usually takes two days for me. It's just stupid to cut out the auto funding, it takes so much more time and it's definitely not worth the trouble.   I just can't figure out why they are doing this, maybe a lot of people were "bouncing" the backup funds if their bank account did not have a balance to cover the transactions? The person I spoke with (who had to ask her next two supervisors up the chain) had not heard of the change and did not know why they were doing this.
