Hi. I have my Paypal account linked directly to my checking account. In the past, this has allowed to me make online purchases through Paypal as well as send and receive money instantly to friends and family. In fact, I just received a "test" payment from my mom who just got Paypal about 2 days prior to this happening. Well, I just moved and tried to pay my rent through Paypal, and suddenly, it would not allow me to do so. It prompted me to add a debit or credit card in order to complete the transaction, which I did not want to do. Finally, I decided, fine, I'll add my debit card, which is the card that corresponds to the bank account I already had linked to Paypal. However, before confirming the payment, I noticed I would be charged a fee for transferring funds using a debit or credit card. I thought maybe it was because it was a larger amount that I usually do not do, so I tried splitting it in half. That didn't work either. To be clear, I did not have funds in my Paypal account, but I've never kept funds in it. It has always just pulled from my linked bank account. So, I ended up having to transfer the amount from my bank to my Paypal account, which takes "3-5 business days." I'm pretty embarrassed and annoyed because my first rent payment is now over a week late. So, what's the deal? Why am I suddenly unable to transfer money through my checking account after many years of doing so?
