From my experience, cash advance is when you make a cash withdrawal, other than purchases, at the store's register from your credit/debit card. On the keypad, it would be called cash advance. Otherwise, the payment would be classified as either check, debit, or credit. In your case, it may or may not be classified as credit. If that doesn't help then I would recommend contacting PayPal by phone at https://www.paypal.com/selfhelp/contact/call or by email at https://www.paypal.com/selfhelp/contact/email. You can also contact your bank by using the contact information that's on the back of the card. Let me know how it went!
